Mine were similar. If they did pay for me to do something my Dad insisted I finish it thru. I think it's good to teach kids to learn to be self-reliant and independent, but be there when they need your moral support.

Lee
Tossing It Out
Twitter hashtag: #atozchallengeArlee Birdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11663942782929929334noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1861307316932691361.post-88003357534893316362011-03-29T22:00:55.203-04:002011-03-29T22:00:55.203-04:00It's funny how things change from generation t...It's funny how things change from generation to generation. Kids these days assume everything will be paid for by mommy and daddy, including their college education. I managed to find ways to pay my way through school without my parent's help (although I do think they bought a book or two for me). It's no wonder today's kids never go out on their own.Living Lifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13536713874842469949noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1861307316932691361.post-63210299679812017112011-03-28T13:52:28.553-04:002011-03-28T13:52:28.553-04:00What an interesting post (as usual).

Generally speaking, this generation has a sense of entitlement -- they think they deserve to have what mom and dad have now instead of waiting and working the 30+ years to get it.

My dad always said, "How comes you always do that."Good Companyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09199803488145525441noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1861307316932691361.post-79246251608925620692011-03-28T10:41:56.187-04:002011-03-28T10:41:56.187-04:00Well, it looks like "things" turned out ...Well, it looks like "things" turned out pretty well.
Your story doesn't sound much different from others who grew up in that 'era.' Your family sounds alot like mine growing up. My Dad died at a very early age and Mom had to go out an work to keep a roof over out heads. I knew at an early age that if I wanted the finer things in life that I would have to work hard for it. I think it makes you appreciate things more when you have to buy it yourself.
