This afternoon I closed out 2009 by seeing one more film--The Young Victoria, the story of Queen Victoria and her great love Prince Albert. I loved everything about the film, but especially the lush musical score. Here's Victoria and Albert's theme song, Only You, performed so movingly by Sinead O'Connor. Enjoy:
Happy New Year, everyone.
I bought the DVD and loved it. I cried, of course, and may even watch it again this weekend.
ReplyDeleteHi! Oh my...I am so excited to watch this movie, and will do this with the IT Guy over the weekend...thanks so much for the suggestion, we need a good list, you know. ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy new year to you and to your family, wish you all the best for 2010!
Oh! I saw the preview for that movie and thought it looked so good. Happy New Year to you, my friend! May you and Willie have all the health, happiness and walkies that you can handle.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to wish you a fabulous 2010.
ReplyDeleteSarah and Sally
Sx
it definitely grows on ya!
ReplyDeleteHappy new year, Faye. You're right, it was a great movie.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great movie and I loved the song. Happy 2010 Faye, may it be the best ever.
ReplyDeleteHappy new year to you too, Faye! This looks like a great chic flick for my annual "Girl's Night" when I host a movie and snacks for my girlfriends. This year I'm going to host a "Girl's Snuggie Night". Perhaps I will get this movie. I think they will love it!
ReplyDeleteI must see this film. It looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Faye. And to Master Willie too of course.
oh how i love sinead o'connor.
ReplyDeletehappy new year!
Happy New Year Faye.
ReplyDeleteThis movie just went on my queue...I'll probably get it around March sometime, but can't wait to see it.
Thanks.
debs--I agree with the re-watch. Plan to catch it again before it leaves the theater--and after I study up a bit on Victoria and Albert.
ReplyDeletemariposa--IT Guy should get some major bonus points for seeing Victoria with you--it's more than a chick flick though.
misanthrope--the same new year wishes back at you and especially health for Boy Cat.
sarah--nice to hear from Peggy Flobbins' double. Good luck with that 101 list.
pamela--yep, first have to appreciate the musical score and then pay attention to the lyrics of "Only You." They were so young and had such great responsibilities.
susie v--glad to hear that the English writerly types loved this movie as much as I did.
janis--and I hope you and your family have a great 2010. Glad to get to know you and Church Lady through blogging.
leonardo--are you a postcard crossing member?
church lady--Victoria is not a funny film--although it does have some moments like when Albert learns to waltz or when the two of them are just hanging out. Rupert Friend, who played Albert, said that for him the film was first of all about two very public people trying to have a private relationship.
lane--this may be a film that you would see with The Teenager. Rupert Friend is quite a heart throb, even from the senior citizen set. And the best of the new year to you and all the girls from me and Master Willie.
laurie--good music, guys who bring dogs to the palace to help woo the princess, sweet couple. The makings of a great film. Happy new year to you and your three guys as well.
prunella--you had me fooled at first--so many pen names! I'm sure you'll see it in Houston before March. And there's always Netflix. I put it on my "save" queue last night.
