If you're looking for a Fun Monday posting here, sorry. There will no joy on Summit Musings on April 5. Instead, it's going to be Tax Monday. By the time Dancing with the Stars gets in full swing at 8:00 p.m. tomorrow night, I am determined to complete both federal and state income tax returns--without the help of my long time CPA. This is a rather daunting decision to go it alone, but I figure the time has come add the TurboTax notch to my technology belt. Everyone says the program is simple enough that a chimpanzee could use it--we'll see. . .
I will leave you with this wonderful sign of spring--the most beautiful fuchsia and lime colored hydrangeas from Ilnacullen Garden on Garinish Island, County Cork, Ireland--1998 garden tour.
Wish me the luck of the Irish with Tax Monday.
Tax, eugh. Don't talk to me about tax. I arrived home on Thursday excited about having 10 days off work and the only post I had was my new tax rating. It had gone up by 2%, which is 7% since last September. I wouldn't mind, but I don't earn any more, they've just lowered the tax allowances. £*%&$!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter anyway, and good luck with the form filling.x
I just handed my stuff in to my guy last week. Could have done it in February, but for some reason couldn't bring myself to do it. You have my sympathies. Hopefully next Monday can be fun again!
ReplyDeletedebs--I hear you. It seems unjust. Your earnings don't increase, expenses do increase but either way tax liability is guaranteed to go up. I'm grateful to be retired, but I have less income, same living expenses and more taxes held out. Go figure. . .
ReplyDeletesayre--why get the bad news in February when you can delay until April? :-) I may have made a big mistake by cutting loose my long time CPA. Will try for one year anyway.
Good luck with your taxes...perhaps by the time you read this comment, they will be completed!! We've used Turbo Tax in the past and it is quite user friendly, but since our taxes have become a little more complicated, we handed them over to an accountant.
ReplyDeleteHave faith - you can do it. I dunno about chimpanzees, but Mike has Turbo-Taxed for several years now with no problems. Not that I'm comparing my hubby to a chimp (well, not today, anyway!)

ReplyDeleteOh boy...I will tippy toe around you until you get it done..LOL...I hear Turbo Tax is very easy to use..good luck and hope to see you next FM...Jan is hosting.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the beautiful picture and hope you are finished with your taxes by now.
ReplyDeleteHow fortunate I am to be in the UK where we have PAYE (pay as you earn). Only those who are self-employed have tax returns forms to fill in.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your form-filling
I hope your taxes went well. I have been using TurboTax for years now....I don't know if I am finding all the deductions that I might be able to have, but it seems to work for me.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers....
