This is the steeple of the United Methodist Church in my neighborhood. I enjoy seeing this symbol of--to me--religious tolerance and inclusion in these times when faith is more of a competition. Right way, wrong way, my Jesus is better than your Jesus. The simple Protestant cross and double flame is an apt symbol of the Methodist teachings and practices. I've been on "sabbatical" from formal religion for many years. If-or when-I return to a church, this will be the one I return to.
Just for fun I played around with some Photoshop special effects. Here's steeple fresco:
Here's steeple colored pencil:
it makes for a striking photo against that blue sky.
ReplyDeletei've been on sabbatical from religion for many years, but my faith remains plenty strong. :)
I love church steeples...wouldnt they make a nice meme each week!!!
ReplyDeleteI was raised methodist but have tired many different religions! Right now I am with The United Church of Christ...it is very similar to Methodist! That is a great shot n love the edits you played with Faye!
There's a lovely crooked steeple in Cleobury Mortimer in Shropshire and I've always thought it looked full of character.
ReplyDeleteLove the fresco - it looks like a painting!
ReplyDeleteI used to go to a Methodist church in my early teen years. I love how the steeple stands out against the bluest of skies! Nice edits too!
