In this photo my neighbor and I were chatting across the fence. Zack paid regular visits with her dog. As you can see, sometimes he tunneled under the fence, but mostly he thought it showed more flair to just climb over!
Here's Zack at about 6-8 weeks old having his first sleepover with our friends while I was working out of town. As you can see, the climbing genes were there from the start.
And finally, 16 years later here he is. Still beautiful and mischievous, but he had given up fence climbing by then.
For some great fences from all over be sure to visit Janis at Life According to Jan and Jer .
A few months ago I posted about the dogs in my life. I had a border collie, Bullet, who was also a fence climber! They are wonderful dogs - I was always amazed at his intelligence!
ReplyDeleteLOL...caught in the act on the first one! Love that shot!
ReplyDeleteoh what a cutie! and so smart!!
ReplyDeleteZach was a beautiful dog! And apparently smart too - not every dog figures out that climbing thing. My parents had a 6 ft. fence at the house I grew up in and a german shepherd that could jump over it. I was always awed by his jumping ability!
ReplyDeleteSome are determined to do what they aren't supposed to do! Following with GFC!
ReplyDeletehandsome and smart! can't beat that kind of dog. :) i do hope your old one will be able to ease out of this life in a gentle manner... always so hard...
ReplyDeleteThe first shot reminds me of "Don't Fence Me In". :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet shot in the bathroom. That just made me smile.
Zack is a beautiful dog!
Some dogs are just determined...my brother had a beagle one time that you could not keep in a pen..she would climb over or dig under no matter how you did the fence.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous dog, Faye... My son and family had a little dog who dug out under their fence and was NEVER seen again... They were heart-broken... But--dogs do that!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy
What a dog! Climbing fences, never heard of a dog climbing a fence before! LoL =)
ReplyDeleteI didn't grow up on the farm in my post, but my parents had that property all thru my childhood, they just never did anything w/ it until later in life, after I moved out, but I've been going out there now for at least 20 years, so we've all benefit from the place! We love it =)
Thanks for visiting & commenting =)
ps mom doesn't raise horses but she has 3 at the farm now... she's had several over the years =)
ReplyDeleteLOL! My dog could have jumped over fences if only he could have figured out how to go forward while in mid air, he always jumped straight up higher than the fence. Now he's too old and decrepit to jump. Loved this post.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dog. Cute picture of him at his first sleep over.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful dog! Love the fence climbing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post, very smart dog.
ReplyDeleteHe's a really beautiful dog! My husband tells about a dog they had when he was a child that climbed a very tall fence that was topped with electric wire, yelping as he made it over...they couldn't keep him fenced in no matter what! :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my gush he is funny dog! Very mischievous and fiery huh!
