Barn Charm - Bluegrass State

Here are a couple more fancy digs for thoroughbred race horses in Kentucky's Bluegrass Region.  I spotted these two from U.S. 60, a designated scenic highway between Frankfort and Versailles.  In the second photo notice that even the ducks have an upscale "barn"!

Now if you'd like to participate in the Barn Charm meme, or just see some interesting "barnery" from many different places, just go to Bluff Area Daily .

  2. I love that region of Kentucky. I uesed to drive through that area on my way to and from college from Ohio. I attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky. just 30 minutes from Lexington, but a completely different world. Back in the early 70s there were lots of tobacco barns; now it's mile after mile of lush grazing fields overseen by gorgeous and huge horse barns. You succeeded in beautifully capturing this way of life.:>)

It was so worth enlarging that second shot. The ducks have a good life too.

  5. Because of you and Jan, I am definitely planning a trip to "barn country"! Our red barn growing up lacked charm -- or perhaps had too much. ;) Thanks for pointing out the duck residence, I may have missed it.

  6. Wonderful! We love that area and travel there often. We live just North of there in Cincinnati. Great images. :)

  7. Some horses live in better digs than a lot of people here. Beautiful barns! I'm always amazed at the $$$ invested in these farms.

  8. I love that view! And the duck house...how cute! That was one of the things we loved about Kentucky - the farms looked so pristine and well-tended!
