This week I've been deep into a new Danish crime writer who is giving the likes of Stieg Larsson and Henning Mankell some great competition--The Keeper of Lost Causes by Jussi Adler-Olsen (mouse over the book on my Shelfari shelf to the left here for a synopsis if you like a good police mystery). Anyway, the police department is right in the middle of Copenhagen and they keep making references to looking out over Tivoli Gardens, the Danish equivalent to Disneyland. So I found this little fence running along the stream walkway in Tivoli. Got the photos walking for dinner one evening there (2011).
And a couple of guys too cute not to show you. Along the walkway there were bread "gumball" machines. You put a coin in and got a handful of crumbs to feed theses eager birds and quackers:
Here's a fairy lit show of the grand hotel on the Tivoli grounds and another little night view of the water.
Now first thing this morning I'm going to Amazon to order the next installment of Chief Inspector Carl Mork's Copenhagen crime solvers, but before I do that will be checking out all the Friday Fences at Janis' place, Life According to Jan and Jer .
What a beautiful fairy-lit view! I may have to check out those mysteries - I love a good crime drama!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures you show.
ReplyDeleteReally like those from Tivoli.
Wishing you a good weekend :)

Beautiful pics Faye. Like your perspective on the fence shot!!!
ReplyDeletelove the reflections. great views. (:
ReplyDeleteMagical night photos, Faye. A writer to match Stieg Larson? I've got to check this out. :))
ReplyDeletevery pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely night pictures!
ReplyDeleteThe lighting is phenomenal! I won't begin to guess the cost, but it is partly for the tourists, so it brings in a lot cash to the city...
ReplyDeleteWell worth it!
Great photos! I came over from Friday Fences - i see you and I have some things in common- pilates and scandinavian crime fiction:) My favourite is Henning Mankell. Now reading Liza Marklund's latest :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! Great shot of the fence and the night photos are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteFaye. We really do like the same authors. Both have Mankell as favourite too. I enjoy Nesbo but have to skip pages here and there (i am a wimp) and I have just finished Hakan Nessers' The Minds Eye, which I enjoyed. It is the second of his that I have read. I also like Lackberg, do you? And what about Roslund and Hellstrom? Three Seconds was fantastic!! Nice to have a new crime fiction friend:)
ReplyDeletepaying for crumbs to feed the ducks - could only happen in a tourist spot
ReplyDeleteI so love neon lighted buildings. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWe use to have those feeders in a park near me. They were removed because people insisted on bringing leftovers from home and the ducks would get sick. Now you get a fine of you are caught feeding any of the wildlife. Always one bad apple in the barrel, as the saying goes.
