Post 3 about Kizhi Island, a tiny jewel on Lake Onega in northern Russia. For Wordless Wednesday and Nature Footstep Waters, I'll share some of the best scenes that I photographed. These photos need very few words: A raised wooden walkway runs around the water's edge of this island that's only 3/4 mile wide. All photos taken from this vantage point. The photo above was taken very early in the morning as we cruised to the island. Unlike the tap water in major Russian cities which was unsafe to drink, this deep blue mineralized water is compared to distilled water in its purity.
