Rose-breasted Grosbeak Male- spotted this dandy with his rosy cravat at my neighbor's "squirrel" feeder. In contrast, the females and juveniles are brown striped. I think I got a couple of not so good photos of them as well, but decided not to post and let this one take center stage.
Blurred because they're quite camera wary, but you can see his fabulous rosy breast.

That's very pretty bird!!
Wonderful looking bird! I'd love to see one.
I dont think it matters that you may not be able to tell a duck from a grebe - as far as I am concerned it only matters that you look and say "I wonder what that is" - thats why my blogs are called what they are!
Cheers and thanks for linking to WBW

Faye, I love these birds, they are one of my favorites. I seemed to have missed them passing thru this year. Great shots.
Many thanks for the visit and lovely comments, Faye!
Yes, the English countryside is very beautiful, especially the New Forest – the setting of my latest thriller, ‘Retribution’. If you liked the Lake District area of the UK (phew! what a walk you had!), you'll love this region too!
And, as I mentioned here in an earlier post , all proceeds from the sale of my novels go to Cudeca, a cancer hospice serving the local area which badly needs help in Spain’s economic crisis.
If you do decide to get ‘Retribution’ on Amazon.com, do let me know if the photos help with “being there” in the drama and seeing things through the characters’ eyes!
Hope you're having a lovely week!
PS I also taught English to adults many years ago - before I became engrossed in crime fiction writing!
What a showy little fellow! I like his red bib.

Really pretty. I never see them here.
Lots of people seem to have the grosbeaks, but we've never had them here. It's been a long time since I've seen one.

Wonderful captures of this gorgeous little feathered friend.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful Grosbeak!
We only get to see them briefly as they migrate through Florida.
