Friday Fences - Bavarian Alps

I spotted this peaceful scene from the tour bus on a drive through the Black Forest/Bavarian Alps in 2008. We were driving from Mannheim, Germany to Innsbruck, Austria. As we got closer to Innsbruck and the ski villages of the Bavarian Apls, we saw many churches, inns, and private homes with this unusual painting detail. It's hard to describe what technique may have been used. Any guesses? For more Friday Fences, scoot over to Janis' place at Life According to Jan and Jer .

What a gorgeous sight for our eyes to gaze upon! I am sure pics do not do justice to the beauty!

I bet you saw a lot of beautiful sites while there, if these are anything to go by.

Beautiful scenes - and what an unusual little church.

you're cheating, once again, and going international on your fences. :)

texWisgirl-what with a puppy and a cranky elderly sis that I'm trying to keep out of a nursing home, haven't had time to look for fences or barns much locally. So, digging through past photos so I can participate. Chatting with all of you and remembering these fun trips is about the most fun I'm having lately. Sure you've been there too. :-)

The horses grazing could be in my neighborhood. :)
The painted mural is really wonderful. It must have been quite a treat to see many buildings painted as such.
Don't know about most of the style but there's a little Trompe L'oeil going on especially around the door.

It must have been a real pleasure to travel through the Bavarian Alps and see those scenes. I'm glad you could get such good pictures from a tour bus. I like the murals on the church, but have no idea as to the technique used to create them.
