This looks exactly like what I experience with one of my dogs! I've not only been hurt in the process but I've managed to nick a claw twice (dog pulled away right as I was clipping!) and WOW do they ever bleed! Of course taking them to a vet/groomer is another ordeal - I find that sometimes it helps a bit if I'm not in the room since the little stinker acts bad when I'm present!

wow..Chet has grown so fast! My Bro's dog had to be sedated in order for the vet to click his nails. It can be a hazardous job! It's almost the same as taking a toddler to the Dr. to get a shot...LOL
BTW...thanks for your comment...I am trying to teach the grands the art of Jitterbug...they love to watch Grandpa n I dance together.

What a beautiful boy. How we do our dog's nails: one person distracts her with a lollipop whilst the other dremels her nails. Works well for us! Just let Chet see and hear the dremel tool a few times before trying to touch his claws with it.
The battle always ends at the V.E.Ts Chet. Those chaps know every manoeuvre.
And ps - you grow more and more handsome with every photo.
It looks as if Chet put up a good fight, even if he did meet his Waterloo.
I think you made a wise decision in taking Chet to the clinic to have his toe nails clipped. It's definitely not worth the battle or the wounds that may occur! That looks like one doozy of a scratch!
Wow! That's a nasty scratch. I couldn't begin to trim Sundae's claws.....But I used to trim my other kitty, Beezy's. She was such a sweetie!
He is so cute. And Poor Chet and the groomer. I think most of the dogs don't like their nails clip. Our dogs were the same. Sadly they were in heaven now and we miss them so much.
I know what that's like! We used to have a Doberman and a German Shepherd and we clipped their toenails ourselves. It was usually a struggle, but they never tried to bite.
...It's not funny....I feel for the critters, but understand the need to clipping the nails. AND the nail clipper-er. Try cleaning a cat's ears. LOL
I wouldn't attempt to trim Grumpy's claws, he's such a drama queen that it would be one long hysterical battle. Thankfully he has to be clipped every couple of months and the 'beautician' does his claws for me. Relief!
Oh Chet...what's the matter, boy. Do you have a tummy ache?
