Louisville was named for King Louis XVI when settled in 1778, in recognition of France's help during the Revolutionary War . The city also took Louis' lily flower symbol, the fleur-de-lis. Even today it still remains our most loved symbol as on this fence in historic Old Louisville:

The black iron fences are very elegant but I'm more fond of those painted vine covered fences in the last shot! Lots of charm in that little garden.
