Wild Bird Wednesday - the Acrobat

A red-bellied woodpecker that hangs out--literally--in a tree in the front yard. He even lit on the step railing to check out the bird buffet, but I was too slow in grabbing the camera.

Linking to Wild Bird Wednesday .

In case Blogger is still giving me trouble with text. I can see it, but you may not be able to. This is a red-bellied woodpecker. And, according to my birder cousin, a female. According to her, the male's red stripe extends all the way over top of head to beak.
