Recent retiree--35 year's experience teaching reading, English, adult basic education and volunteer leadership skills. Started this blog to exchange ideas and commentary with friends and others having an interest in joining the discussions. Greatest life accomplishments include: 1.organized my 3rd grade class to check out library books for me to get around librarian's weekly limit--Amazon.com, the Mullins Elementary 3rd Grade Class of 1956 is still waiting for "thank you" notes; 2. volunteered in the Peace Corps, island of St. Kitts, West Indies; 3.taught adults to read, earn their GEDs., and speak English as a second language; 4. bought a border collie puppy for $6, got evicted rather than give him up, and began a life-long love affair with all things "Dog"; 5. joined a physical fitness boot camp in my mid-50s--don't mess with someone who's been doing regulation pushups in wet grass at 5:30 a.m.; 6. walked across Northern England with best friend Sally--over 80 miles from the Irish to North Seas; and 7. travelled to many foreign countries for pleasure and work.

Autumn Photo Challenge, Day 13 - "Fall Colors"

Yes, unlike some of the other photographers who are doing this challenge with me, I could share a picture of some already dressed for fall trees--in yellow, orange, red, golden-brown. However. . .
Yep! It's also time to make that all-important choice of fall colors in nail polish. Starting on the left, my neutral is going to be Essie's Over the Knee. In the middle, I chose OPI's Chocolate Moose for orange tone. And, when I need something pinky, will wear Essie's Lady Like. These colors hit the mark right off because I used my little selection secret. You know how colors may look good in the bottle or dabbed on a piece of white paper? Don't buy from that! Instead, put a piece of cello tape on your hand and paint on that. Guaranteed best way to match your skin tones. And since we're sharing beauty secrets, did you know that the best place to test a lipstick color is on the pad of your finger because it's most like your natural lip color?

If you'd like to participate in the Two Weeks in Autumn Photo Challenge--and I hope you do--it's simple. Just grab your camera and take a photo of your interpretation of the day's subject. Post on your blog and then leave me a comment so I can visit you and include your link on the player's list below.

Also, since tomorrow's photo is the last in our two week challenge, thought you might like to have the subject earlier so you can look through photo archives for a "most favorite."

Hey!!! Those are my colors...great minds think alike..LOL. Thanks for those two beauty tips Faye...something I did not know!!!
Thanks for you kind comments too! I have always loved taking pictures but they were always of people. Since I started blogging three years ago, my passion for photography took off! I learn by trial n error, no real formal lessons (which I still need), just tips I see along the way from tutorials and photography mags! Both of my daughters also enjoy this too..so it's makes it even more enjoyable when we all go out on a photo shoot together!

Those are great tips, too. I didn't know that about the finger tips.
