Lake Vattern in Southern Sweden near Malmo. Farmland with red barn/houses ran right into the lake. I thought of Det. Kurt Wallander when driving through this part of Sweden. He was always having to go to Malmo to chase down criminals!
This photo was taken early one rainy morning on the Nordfjord near Loen in Norway. The chalky green color of the water is caused by "glacial flour"(ground rock)that runs into the water. Loved the many birches growing in Scandinavia.
Briksdal Glacier in Norway. We took a "troll" car up from the base of the mountain past waterfalls, rocky outcroppings, tumbling streams, and forests. Then hiked the last leg to the toe of the glacier. Great to see plants, lichen-covered rocks and trees, and moss banks up close.
Norway has many waterfalls that come down the mountains and ravines and spill into the lakes and fjords. This one was on the Geirangerfjord.
One of the many different streams that you see in Scandinavia, some filled with salmon. This one had its own little waterfall.
