Friday Fences - Canopy Walkway in Bernheim Forest

Earlier this week before the rain and cold weather came into the area, I spent a glorious sunny afternoon walking through Bernheim Forest capturing some great fall color. Willie came along to keep me company and stretch his old legs. This walkway that you see above stretches out over the forest tree canopy. It's five feet above the trees and when you get to where Willie is standing you can see for miles--trees still blazing with autumn colors and bright blue skies.

I admired this beautiful and sturdy fence on the walkway. And appreciated how stable it is, especially since exposed heights give me the willies. Here are a couple of shots looking down over the walkway:

Friday Fences is a new meme hosted by my good blog friend Janis at Life According to Jan and Jer . Go there to sign up or check out the fences shared by other players.

Great photos as always, I'm with you not fond of heights but at least the walkway looked very solid and steady, I look forward to more from you:)

How fortunate to have a place like that so close to your home! I'll bet it is so peaceful. Willie looks like he is thinking, "I'm sure glad we reached the end of this walkway!" Your photos are screaming with color! I just love love love the autumn colors!! Have a great weekend Faye!

The views are still great (I think I said that yesterday), but I love the fan design in that fence! And I totally agree with you about needing a strong fence when you are up in the air like that!

first, I love your dog, I love dogs above all animals, but love anything with 4 legs. beautiful walk way. we have one similar here in Myakka state park, but it moves when walked on, so i climbed to the top and back down while hubby walked across it. all that color is beautiful and I like the patterns on the fence.

That is a very well constructed walkway with nice, high rails! The shots you got from it are very nice and show such nice fall colors. Well done.

What a gorgeous spot and so close to the big city. I looked at your earlier post to see exactly where it was located. We did a wonderful canopy walk over in West Virginia several week ago which was mind boggling. The walkway through this one is far nicer that the rustic and falling apart one we were walking on. At one point it was broken in half and we had to scoot up 5 feet to connect to the next section. I was SO PROUD that I did it on my own and unassisted at 72. You cannot keep a horsey old gal down. Love your post and my visit to a new blog. genie

I like your fences and your foliage! You asked if I was particularly interested in quilt barns....yes! I have done several posts of the ones I have seen in Kentucky, Ohio, Tenn., and Ind. I try to collect as many of the maps as I can get, also for furture trips! Will have to see if I can find your post about the Kentucky ones.
