Wild Bird Wednesday - Louisville Cardinals

Dug back in photo archives to January 2011 to find my best shot of a red cardinal.  Posting it in honor of the Cardinals, University of Louisville men's basketball team, winning the national tournament Sunday night in Atlanta.

After last night in New Orleans was hoping to congratulate the U of L Lady Cards on winning the women's NCAA tournament.  Unfortunately, they didn't prevail against UCONN, but what a season they've had where--as their warmups proclaimed--they Rise to the Occasion.  They've certainly done that all season and Louisville can be proud of two champion Cardinal teams.

Finally, just for fun, I caught these His 'n Her tails yesterday.  The Lady Cardinal is a bit challenging to photograph, unlike the male who seems a bit calmer.

Nice shot of the male against the blue sky! I like the females just as much, though. They can have some great shades of brown! There has been a lot of back and forth between Cat and Cards fans here. LOL!

Great photos of the Cardinals. The contrast of colors in the first photo is especially beautiful.

Oh such fabulous photos - I'm so jealous - we just don't get cardinals out on the west coasts - though I heard an interesting story a few years back that they had progressed farther west and had been seen in Montana - wonder if they can get over the mountains?

That combination of red and blue is great! What a bird.

The title of the meme is Wild BIrd Wednesday, not Identified Bird Wednesday - so post away, even if you dont know the name - I'm sure somebody will provide it!

Cheers and thanks for linking to WBW.

That blue sky was the perfect background for capturing a male cardinal!

Faye, my email isn't configured such that I can click on your link and send you a note. If you want to email me I'll answer your bird questions you left in my comments.

Agree that the female is every bit as beautiful as the male. As for the basketball teams, the ladies can be very proud of their accomplishments. Of course there was so much positive sentiment for the men's team all around the country, so they had lots of extra help!
